2011 Sudler Shield Award

Congratulations to the Homestead Spartan Alliance Band, staff, and directors!  The band was named a 2011 Sudler Shield Award Recipient.  The Sudler Shield is an award recognizing High School, Youth and International Marching Bands of world-class excellence.  The purpose of the award is:
  1. To establish and support international standards of excellence in musical performance, marching execution, choreography and show design for high school, youth or international marching bands.
  2. To identify, recognize, and honor outstanding high school, youth and international marching bands that are at a world-class level of excellence.
The Sudler Shield Award is endowed by Louis and Virginia Sudler and is administrated by the John Philip Sousa Foundation.  The award was announced at the 2011 Midwest Clinic – An International Band and Orchestra Conference in Chicago, IL.  The award was presented to the Homestead Spartan Alliance Band at their spring concert in April 2012.

Rose Bowl Trip- The band was accepted and performed at the 114th Annual Tournament of Roses Parade in Pasadena, California.  There were over one million live viewers on the parade route.  The parade was seen by 80 million people in the United States and an additional 350 million internationally.  While in California for seven days and six nights, the band performed in the Rose Parade, at Band Fest, and at Disneyland’s Magic Kingdom.  The band visited Disneyland Magic Kingdom, Six Flags Magic Mountain, and Universal Studios Hollywood.  The band toured the Hollywood area, went to Hollywood and Highland, the Kodak Theatre, the famous Hollywood Walk of Fame, Hard Rock Cafe in Hollywood, and Santa Monica Pier at the Pacific Ocean.

2000  Fiesta Bowl Grand National Champion

Four Fiesta Bowl Trips- While in Phoenix, the band went horseback riding and rock climbing, went to the Kiwanis Wave Pool and Recreation Center, Hard Rock Cafe, Ed Debivic’s, Rawhide Western Theme Park, saw Indian ruins at Montezuma’s Castle, and went to the Grand Canyon.

1999 Spring Break Hawaii Trip- The band traveled to Waikiki, Oahu, Hawaii.  While in Hawaii, the band performed three times.  The band went on a Sunset Cruise, an Island Tour, visited the Polynesian Cultural Center, went to Planet Hollywood, and to Pearl Harbor and saw the USS Arizona and USS Missouri while in Hawaii.

1996 MicroAge Fiesta Bowl Parade- The band was accepted and performed at the MicroAge Fiesta Bowl Parade in Phoenix, Arizona.  The guard was third overall and the band placed sixth in the national competition.  While in Phoenix, the band went on a scenic riverboat cruise, went to the Kiwanis Wave Pool and Recreation Center, went to Planet Hollywood, went to Rawhide Western Theme Park, saw Indian ruins at Montezuma’s Castle, and went to the Grand Canyon.

1995 Florida Trip- Electric Parade- Walt Disney World’s Magic Kingdom

1994 BOA Grand National Championships- Top 66 bands in the country.  4th Place Overall in Preliminaries.  3rd Place in Class AA  Prelims.  Top 12 Bands make Finals.  10th Place overall in Grand National Finals.  Highest Scoring Band in Finals for General Effect Visual.

1994 Indianapolis Colts Vs Washington Redskins- Halftime.  RCA Dome.

1993 Florida Trip- Electric Parade- Walt Disney World’s Magic Kingdom.

1992 Indianapolis Colts vs. Buffalo Bills- Halftime.  Hoosier Dome.

2011 ISSMA Class A State Finals - State Champions

2014 BOA Grand National Championship - Top 66 bands in the country.  Top 12 finalist band.  8th Place overall finish in Grand National Finals

2015 Florida Trip - Electric Parade - Walt Disney World's Magic Kingdom.

2015 BOA Grand National Championship - Top 66 bands in the country.  Top 12 finalist band.  12th Place overall finish in Grand National Finals.

2016 BOA Indianapolis Super Regional Championship - 3rd Place overall finish.

2016 BOA Grand National Championship - Top 66 bands in the country.  Top 12 finalist band.  11th Place overall finish in Grand National Finals.

2017 Washington DC Trip - Performance on the steps of the Lincoln Memorial and invited guests to a private performance at the Russian Embassy

2017 BOA Northwest Ohio Regional  - Class 4A Champions

2017 ISSMA Class A State Finals - State Champions

2018 BOA Indianapolis Super Regional Championship - Class AAA Prelims Champion (winning visual and general effect captions), 4th place overall in Finals

2018 ISSMA Class A State Finals - 3rd place overall finish

2018 BOA Grand National Championships - Class AAA Prelims 2nd place (winning visual caption), 8th place overall in Grand National Finals

2019 Florida Trip - Festival of Fantasy Parade - Walt Disney World's Magic Kingdom
