We invite you to join the Homestead Spartan Alliance Band, an elite Indiana high school marching band, as we learn, play, practice technique, master drill and perform for cheering crowds across the state and national level. The Homestead Band is comprised of talented drum majors, musicians and color guard members performing an intricate marching band show at local, regional and national competitions.
Your experience with the Homestead Band will enhance leadership skills, hone your musical and performance technique and mark your place in the long line of exceptional Homestead Spartans. WE BELIEVE in the Spartan Alliance Band. WE BELIEVE in the future of music education. WE BELIEVE IN YOU! Members of the Spartan Alliance Band come together to create the beautiful pageantry that is a marching band show. Students learn challenging music, drill, technique, placement, etc. under the direction of Mr. Jordan Cain, Director of Bands, Mr. Jason Witzigreuter, Associate Director of Bands and Mr. Alec Shilling, Assistant Director of Bands. An extended staff also works with the students by section and as a whole. Members are required to shift from an I/Me reasoning to a We/Us concept. Instead of the logic being, what’s in it for me, it becomes, what’s in it for us? The values of cooperation, communication, concentration, and completion come into play each day at rehearsal. The Spartan Alliance Band is a competition based program, traveling to various area events and hosting two competitions at Homestead. Homestead's exemplary program includes several State Championships, 36 consecutive State Final qualifications, numerous area competition awards and multiple placements in Bands of America Grand National Finals. The Spartan Alliance Marching Band is comprised of many sections of musicians, the color guard section and our drum majors. All members of the band should participate in band wide activities, commitments, fundraisers and schedules. BAND CAMP
FOOTBALL GAMESThe marching band performs pre-game and half-time of home football games. Prior to the start of the football game, the band takes the field to perform the visiting school's fight song, Homestead's fight song, and the Star Spangled Banner.
During the football game, the band is seated in the stands. The directors may choose to release the band members during the third period and everyone must return before the start of the fourth period. On football Fridays, the band practices after school. Students are allowed a one hour break for dinner before returning to school to prepare for the performance. COMPETITIONSThe marching band competition schedule includes every Saturday from early September through mid November. The contest schedule includes invitationals, the ISSMA competition circuit of District, Regional, Semi-State, and State Finals and select Bands of America competitions.
