What is Indoor Percussion?
WGI Percussion ensembles consist of the marching percussion (also called battery) and the front ensemble (also called pit) sections of a marching band or drum corps. Indoor percussion marries elements of music performance, marching and theater; thus the activity is often referred to as percussion theater. (Taken from WGI.org, https:/wgi.org/percussion) The Homestead Indoor Percussion Ensemble competes in Percussion Scholastic Open Class in both the IPA and WGI competitive circuits. Our season begins in late fall and runs until early April. Over the course of the season, our students learn to be great percussionists and even better people! The Homestead Indoor Percussion Ensemble is under the direction of Michael Brown and Jon Bay. Staff include Henry Conser, Carlee Merkling, Derek French, Ross Taylor, Lorianne Dougall, Ross Kimbrell and Christian Good. Everyone is welcome to support our students at competitions, community events, and fundraisers. |
