Band Fees are due on the first day of band camp.
Attendance is required during the three weeks of band camp. Please plan all vacations/absences around band camp. Students have a one hour lunch break. They may bring a sack lunch or leave campus for lunch.

BAND FEES
We are able to keep our band fees low thanks to the success of our fund raisers. Band fees are due on the first day of band camp. In addition to the band fees, new band members will need to pay for band shoes, lyres, and flip books. These expenses are added to your account.
There are some optional expenses during the season. These are not required purchases as you may already have many of these items.

UNDERSTUDY PROGRAM
We have an understudy program which pairs most freshmen with another freshman member within their section. The student pairs learn the same marching position and alternate taking turns on the field during practices. The performances do not necessarily alternate. Prior to each performance, the directors decide which student is performing. The system of understudies is used to cover spots for injuries, moving out of the district, students who are not physically ready for all performances, or other reasons that a student may not be able to perform. Some students will perform more at football games and some will perform more at contests. A large percentage of our band members have been understudies. This is a team effort and every student is part of the team. We have one of the largest bands in the state of Indiana. Everyone who attends rehearsals is eligible to go on all trips and all students will have a regular position for parade appearances and football pregame shows.
ATTENDANCE
If a student is ill and unable to attend a band camp practice or a regular practice, please call the band office at 431-2265. Absences must be reported to the directors only. Notifying the band manager will not excuse the absence.
Please arrange all medical appointments, jobs, vacations, SAT & ACT testing, etc. around the practice and performance schedule. It is extremely important that all band members be at our band camp and attend all rehearsals regularly. Band students depend on each other and learn to work together as a unit. Excellence can only come about by students being at our practices and working together.
If a student has a conflict with a practice time, they are required to turn in a written excuse at least two weeks in advance.
Students are not excused from a performance unless it is a family medical emergency or the marriage of an immediate family member (mother, father, brother, sister). Performance excuses must be approved and should be turned in at least six weeks in advance. An unexcused absence from a performance will result in the student being assigned an understudy.
